EMT - You take it at any college, mine was a 4 month course that
reviewed all the systems, information, etc. Most places require
you to
do truck time and emergency room time. Each year the amount of
time is
changing every year. At the end of the course you take a written test
and a practicum (different stations set up with different situations).
You must pass both of these to get you licensure. After you become
and
EMT you must do 24 hours of Con. Ed. for 4 years to keep you licensure.
You can also take the national registry
PARAMEDIC - You can take it at basically any college either as a 2 year
or 6 month (fast track) class. You have all the same classes.
You have
to have ACLS, PALS, BTLS, CPR. You do time in the emergency room,
truck
time, with air medical transport team. You also take a state
test,
national registry test and a practicum. I think it's every year
you have
to go to skill review classes. You also must to Con Ed.
